The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, thinks that Rafa Benitez wasn’t treated that well at Chelsea.

Benitez had been appointed as the interim Blues boss after the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo in the first half of the last season. From the first day, the Chelsea fans were not happy with this decision of the owners and they booed Benitez in quite a few home games.

Benitez is currently in UK, with his new side Napoli who will take on Arsenal in a Champions League match tomorrow at Emirates Stadium. The latest football betting makes Arsenal slim favourites for the tie.

Talking to the reporters ahead of that game, Arsene Wenger said, “The fans didn’t treat Rafa that well at Chelsea, but, I think he did a decent job there.”

When asked about the importance of the game against Napoli, Wenger said, “This match is vital. We have already secured 3 points in our first away game. If we do that at home too tomorrow, we will make it to the knockouts.”

The start of the ongoing season wasn’t that good for Arsenal. They had lost their opening Premier League game against Aston Villa by 1-3 and after that defeat, Wenger had to face a lot of criticism, but, the Gunners turned things around after that and are currently at the top of the Premier League points table with 5 wins in 6 matches.

When asked about him being criticized after the defeat against Aston Villa, Wenger said, “There were a lot of reasons behind the criticism. We haven’t won titles since quite some time. Then, we didn’t make any summer signing and then, we began the season poorly. All those things prompted people to have a go at me. But, people didn’t realize that we had not been defeated since March.”
