Gunners looking for new players

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal is in the market to strengthen the team, but he has warned fans not to expect more than three new players.

He believes that he has a good team of players to build upon and that he does not want to change things drastically.

Arsene Wenger said that he is going to favor quality over quantity and that he does not feel that the club needs massive changes to become Premier League champions. This statement might be a bit hard for Arsenal fans to swallow as they feel that the team performance has been pathetic at times this season.

They were hoping that the Arsenal manager will use the transfer window to purchase some new players and help turn the team to challenge for the Premier League title. Continue reading Gunners looking for new players

Lukas Podolski will only stay with Arsenal if he gets a regular starting role

It has been almost 3 years since Podolski signed for Arsenal as the German forward made his move from FC Koln over to Arsenal. During this period of time which is nearing the 3 year mark, Podolski has scored 19 Premier League goals in 60 appearances.

This low amount of goals was one of the reasons of why Podolski was recently offloaded to Inter Milan on a loan deal. Arsenal tried giving Podolski a chance for him to reignite his career by sending him off to the Italian side Inter Milan but unfortunately for Podolski, he still continued to struggle trying to score goals as he only managed to score 1 goal in 17 appearances.

His loan deal with Inter Milan is over and Podolski has returned to Arsenal but the German player has stated that he will only continue performing for the Premier League club if he is given a guaranteed starting role in the team.

Lukas Podolski said: “I can’t make any claims. I am under contract at Arsenal. I have not talked to Arsenal yet, but if I return I want to play. I won’t sit on the bench or in the stands. I don’t have the heart to play for another club in Germany out of respect for the Cologne fans. But I will continue to play football somewhere around the world until I am six feet under the ground.” Continue reading Lukas Podolski will only stay with Arsenal if he gets a regular starting role

The Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has said that he is extremely happy with his performances for Arsenal and experiences he has had at the club since arriving from Malaga in the summer. The Spaniard was a £ 15 million signing for Arsenal in the summer, thus becoming one of the crucial purchases brought in to replace the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. He has adopted extremely well to life in English football after being an integral part of the Arsenal season so far. Even though the club have been struggling to maintain a consistent form, Cazorla has been one of the bright areas for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Cazorla has said that it was an extremely difficult decision to be able to move to a different country with a different style of football and language. However, he feels that he has settled in extremely well and is able to contribute well to the team. Cazorla has said that his aim is to learn English football as was possible. He has praised the way the fans are able to create such a great atmosphere within the stadium, while he is hoping that Arsenal can only improve from now on. The club are currently fourth in the Premier league table.

“It was a very important decision, to change teams. It is a new challenge, it is a completely new adventure from the start, you have to start from zero, aside from the fact of going into a different culture, a new league, a new language. I really enjoy the league, the atmosphere at the stadiums, the respect of the people, their kindness, it is incredible,” said the 28-year-old midfielder, who has made 19 appearances for the club so far this campaign. He has been able to get on the score sheet seven times in these matches.

Arsenal’s latest acquisition from Spain – Santi Cazorla – has said that he wants to bring an end to the trophy drought Arsenal have been experiencing the last eight seasons. Arsenal last lifted the Premier league trophy back in 2004. Since then, they have only the FA Cup trophy to their credit.

During this period, the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger shifted his transfer policy to bringing in many youngsters to the youth team squad, who would be promoted to the first-team. However, departure of key players every summer has meant that the team has been lacking in experience needed to win the Premier league title.

It’s meant fans have had to make do with the same arsenal tshirts for years and years now!

The last two seasons has been subtly different because Arsenal have been spending a lot of money on experienced players like Mikel Arteta. The 27-year-old Santi Cazorla becomes another signing in the same way after the club has paid a reported £ 17 million in transfer fees for the Spanish international. The Spanish squad member comes from the Malaga team in Spain. Even though the club are expected to sell the likes of Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott in the summer, the additions of Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla will certainly make huge changes to the Arsenal team.

“I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal. This is a club with great players, a fantastic stadium and huge support. The club has one of the best managers in football and their style of play is recognised and admired all over the world. I’m so excited to be joining one of the greatest teams in Europe and to be playing in the Premier League. I have spoken to Robert Pires because he played with me at Villarreal. Obviously he knew about the rumours of me coming here and always encouraged me to sign,” said the Spanish international after signing for the club.
