Ibrahimovic looking to retire after current season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and C.Ronaldo are some of the top stars in the world of football, each of them having scored amazing goals with different clubs and earning a number of accolades throughout the entire career.

The Swedish giant Ibrahimovic is 33 years old and he has already expressed his intention of retiring when the current season ends meanwhile C.Ronaldo still has a few more years left in him before he decides to hang up his boots but there is no denying that both players have a successful and extensive career.

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger tried to persuade and sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic back when the Swedish attacker was only 18 years old but his persuasion failed as he decided to sign with Ajax. A similar incident occurred with C.Ronaldo as he attracted the attention of Arsene Wenger with the French manager attempting to sign him but it was Sir. Alex Ferguson who managed to secure the services of the Portuguese winger.

Even though all of those incidents occurred over 10 years ago, Wenger has stated that his failure in signing those promising stars still continues to haunt him especially the inability of having signed C.Ronaldo.

“My biggest regret, I was so close to signing Cristiano Ronaldo. And not only did I not get him, but he signed for Manchester United. That, of course, still hurts today.” Arsene Wenger said.

Manchester United earned 3 successive Premier League titles during the seasons of 2006-07,2007-08 and 2008-09. The Premier League club earned these trophies at the same time when C.Ronaldo was going through his best time at Old Trafford as he earned a FIFA Ballon d’Or and a number of other accolades.

If only Arsene Wenger had been successful in signing C.Ronaldo instead of Sir. Alex Ferguson maybe the team of Wenger would have never experienced their trophy less drought they were experiencing and could have won the Premier League during those seasons.
