The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he is extremely confident that the striker Olivier Giroud will be a success at the club. The French striker was signed from the French club Montpelier in the summer for around £ 13 million. However, he is yet to open his account for Arsenal after having played three matches. Even more worrying is the fact that Olivier Giroud has managed to miss some easy chances in the match is against Sunderland and Liverpool. Yet, the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that it is the settling period for the striker and he expects him to come good once he is settled.

Arsenal are currently searching for a replacement for Robin van Persie, who recently departed for Manchester United in a £ 24 million deal. They might have signed Lukas Podolski, but he scored just one goal in the first three matches of the season. As result, there is a lot of pressure on Olivier Giroud to score the goals. Robin van Persie contributed to 37 goals for Arsenal last season. It is expected that both Podolski and Giroud will be expected to be his replacement and score these goals.

“I am confident about him. Giroud is in an adaptation period. He has shown he is ready for a fight and I am sure he will adapt to the intensity of an English striker. Against Skrtel he discovered what the Premier League is all about,” said Arsene Wenger ahead of the match with Southampton during the weekend. A number of great Arsenal strikers under the Arsene Wenger era have gone on to open their account for the club in the matches against Southampton. Arsene Wenger will be hoping that this is the case with 25-year-old French striker Olivier Giroud as well.
