Arsene Wenger believes that the Gunners are back on track with the draw that they played against Manchester City the other day.
Arsenal had been going through a horrifying phase before that. They had had two tough games in a row and as a result, Wenger had to take excessive criticism, but, against City, his boys played with some dedication and despite being trailed by 1-0, they ended up securing one point to keep their league winning hopes alive.
According to Wenger, Arsenal has left the nightmarish period behind and they are only going to get better from here.
However, if the Gunners have to fulfil their dream of league glory this season, they will need some miracles as just 6 of their games are remaining and they are 7 points behind Liverpool which is topping the points table. Wenger looked pretty optimistic though in the post match press conference after the game against City. The Frenchman said, “The last week was absolutely nightmarish for us. Not only did we get beaten badly at Chelsea, we ruined our chances of getting 3 points against Swansea too by scoring an own goal. It’s not easy at all to come out of such sort of periods, but, the boys showed a lot of toughness today and I think we are back now.”
“When you lose matches so badly, the criticism comes from everywhere and you can’t stop anyone. All you can do is to bounce back and that’s what we did.”
Arsenal’s next league game will be against Everton this weekend at Goodison Park. They will need a win there, otherwise, it’s will become virtually impossible for them to catch up with the other title contenders like City, Chelsea and off course the leaders Liverpool.
